Ten-year-old Auggie Pullman, who was born with a terrible facial deformity and who had to overcome terrible difficulties to find his place in the sun, after receiving home education, is already enrolled in one of the private middle schools in Manhattan in the fifth grade. School life brings with it new unpleasantness: mockery from classmates, fear and isolation. But thanks to his character and will, Auggie manages to prove that he, like everyone else, is an ordinary child and an ordinary student.
