The novel "After the Funeral" centers on the Abernethy family, united by the sudden death of Richard Abernethy in his secluded Victorian mansion and, of course, his will. The author presents a detailed psychological portrait of each of those present, their problems, goals and shortcomings, from which it becomes clear that almost everyone could have had a motive. However, throughout the novel, the question is constantly asked not only "who killed", but also "did a murder take place at all?" This dark story would probably have remained unsolved and forgotten if Hercule Poirot had not intervened in the case, who, combining seemingly insignificant facts, restores all the episodes of this extraordinary story
