The novel “The Lookalike” is the 11th book by Ashot Aghababyan. This exceptional operation, which has no analogues in the world history of intelligence, is being written about for the first time.

The prototype of the main character of the fictional novel is the USSR spy Smbat Khojoyan, a native of the village of Achajur in Ijevan. An Armenian spy who is a lookalike of Mahmud Shovket, a deputy of the ruling party in the Turkish parliament, is sent to Istanbul by the USSR Main Intelligence Directorate to “replace” the Turkish deputy. In place of the deputy who died and was buried in secret, his Armenian spy “works” in the parliament for about three years until he is discovered, after which he manages to flee the country.

For obvious reasons, the names of the Turkish deputy and some of the actual people have been changed. “The Lookalike” is, however, a fictional novel, despite the truthfulness of the events.

A. Aghababyan is the author of the bestselling books "The Resident", "The Lonely", "Trapped", "The Lord of Secrets", "The Last Time We Live", "Colony", and "Black Panther-1".
